Need help to create a Cookie banner and implement the new Consent Mode on your website?
What is Consent Mode?
March 6th was the day the Google EU User Consent Policy became a requirement, which means that the way websites ask for cookies changed. Simply put, websites must display a different pop-up banner to the user than before, which asks the user’s preferences regarding data collection, and it must be clear to the user what and how his data is used. Consent Mode V2 is an improved version of the previous setting developed by Google, which brings the collection and use of data into compliance with the requirements of the European Union.
Cookie notification must be as simple and clear as possible!
Does your website already have a cookie consent banner? The user must be offered the choice to accept or refuse the cookies used on the website, or to change their choices later. Only the “I agree” and/or “I refuse” options, which can be still found on many webpages, are no longer enough. In this case, it is not a correct solution. The user must be able to choose which analytical or marketing cookies he wants to accept. If the cookies are necessary for the functionality of the website, you do not need to ask for separate consent for them.
Cookie Policy and Privacy Policy
Cookies are text files that websites store on the visitor’s computer, and the cookie policy is usually a part of the privacy policy, which contains information about exactly which cookies and how the website uses them, what their purpose is (e.g. saving user choices, statistics, marketing), which cookies are on the website, which are necessary to ensure correct functionality of the website or what are third-party (e.g. Google, Youtube, Facebook, LinkedIn etc) cookies. I am sure The Data Protection Inspectorate in our country is also working diligently in this regard, so be sure not to leave this work until tomorrow!
